Interpretation
What this means for your grass.
- Bermuda
- Bermuda is still growing, but the season is turning. This is the fall pre-emergent window: get it down before soil falls below 70°F, which is when annual bluegrass and other winter weeds start to germinate.
- Zoysia
- Zoysia is still growing and the season is turning. This is the fall pre-emergent window: get it down before soil falls below 70°F. Ease off nitrogen so you aren't pushing growth into dormancy.
- St. Augustine
- St. Augustine's growth is winding down and the fall pre-emergent window is closing: soil is at or below 70°F, so annual bluegrass is germinating. Apply now if you haven't, and expect to treat some weeds that are already up.
- Cool-season
- Cooling out of summer stress and starting to recover. Fall feeding and seeding start here. Pre-emergent and overseeding cannot go down together, so pick one before you buy.
