Agronomic Guidance Disclaimer

Pesticide, fertilizer, and turf-management guidance

Effective date: August 1, 2026 Part of: the Lawn Dominators Terms of Service. Read it together with them.

The short version

The product label is the law. This app is not.

If the app and the label ever disagree, follow the label. If the app suggests a product, a rate, or a timing that the label does not permit for your site, your turf, your pest, or your state — do not do it.

Applying a registered pesticide in a way that is inconsistent with its labeling is a federal violation under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, 7 U.S.C. § 136j(a)(2)(G), which makes it unlawful "to use any registered pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling." That is true no matter what this app displayed on your screen. The app is not a defense.

1. What the app does

Lawn Dominators shows you:

  • product suggestions for a diagnosed problem, grass type, and season;
  • application rates and carrier volumes;
  • timing windows, including soil-temperature and growing-degree-day models;
  • tank-mix and fungicide-rotation planning;
  • calculators that convert a rate into an amount for a measured area;
  • AI-assisted photo diagnosis of weeds, diseases, and pests;
  • forms for keeping the pesticide application records your state requires.

All of this is educational and organizational information. None of it is a recommendation to apply a specific product to a specific property, and none of it is a professional agronomic prescription.

2. What the app is not

The app is not, and does not replace:

  • the current product label, including its Directions for Use, precautionary statements, site and crop restrictions, personal protective equipment requirements, re-entry interval, grazing and irrigation restrictions, environmental hazards, and state-specific limitations;
  • the Safety Data Sheet for the product;
  • a state or federal special-local-need (24(c)) or Section 18 label, which may permit or forbid a use that the base label does not;
  • your state lead agency's rules on licensing, certification, notification, posting, buffer zones, drift, water-body setbacks, endangered-species bulletins, and record retention;
  • a licensed agronomist, certified crop adviser, extension specialist, veterinarian, physician, or attorney.

3. Labels change. This app's data may be stale.

Product labels are revised. Registrations are amended, suspended, and cancelled. Uses get removed. A rate that was legal last season may not be legal this season, and a product legal in one state may be prohibited in the next one over.

Before every application, read the label on the container you are actually about to open. Not a label you remember. Not a label in this app. The physical container in your hand.

The app records an EPA registration number, a label version, and a label source URL with the date it was accessed, precisely so you can go check the current label rather than trusting a cached copy. (Verified: ApplicationProduct.labelSource and labelVersion in src/business/applicationRecord.ts.)

We do not warrant that any product data, rate, timing, or label reference in this app is current, complete, or correct for your site.

4. You are the applicator. That responsibility is yours.

If you are using this app to treat someone else's property for money, you are a commercial applicator and you carry every obligation that comes with it. You are solely responsible for:

  1. Licensing and certification. Holding whatever applicator licence, certification, business licence, registration, and category endorsements your state requires — before you make an application, and for every category of product you apply. Restricted use pesticides additionally require certification under EPA's rules at 40 CFR Part 171, and can only be applied by or under the direct supervision of a certified applicator. State licensing requirements vary enormously and this app does not model them — it will not tell you which licence you need, and it will not stop you from recording an application you were not licensed to make. Ask your state lead agency.
  2. Insurance. Carrying general liability and, where required, pesticide or pollution liability coverage.
  3. Reading and following the label for every product, on every application.
  4. Site suitability. Confirming that the turf species, the site type (residential lawn, ornamental bed, athletic field, etc.), and the target pest are all listed on the label.
  5. Rate and mixing. Measuring, mixing, and calibrating correctly. A calculator's arithmetic is not a verification of your equipment.
  6. Tank mixes. Confirming compatibility. The app can help you plan a mix, but only the labels of the products involved can authorize one, and some labels prohibit specific combinations outright.
  7. Protecting people, pets, pollinators, and water. Observing the label's restricted-entry interval, notification and posting requirements, drift controls, setbacks from wells and surface water, endangered-species bulletins, and pollinator protection language.
  8. Weather and drift. Judging wind, temperature, inversion conditions, and rainfall. The app can show you a forecast; forecasts are wrong sometimes and the app does not decide for you whether it is safe to spray.
  9. Telling your customer what was applied, and when they may re-enter.
  10. Recordkeeping. See section 6.

5. AI diagnosis is a starting point, not an identification

The photo-diagnosis feature uses AI models. It can be confidently wrong. A misidentified weed, disease, or insect leads to the wrong product, the wrong timing, wasted money, damaged turf, and potentially an off-label application.

  • Treat every AI result as a hypothesis to confirm in person.
  • Verify with your own eyes, and where the stakes are high, with your county extension office or a diagnostic lab.
  • The app deliberately shows a confidence level and, at low confidence, offers a treatment lane rather than a species-level ID. Do not read a "high" confidence as certainty.

Never make a pesticide application solely because an AI told you what the problem was.

6. Application records

The app provides a form for recording pesticide and fertilizer applications containing the fields a commercial applicator record generally carries: applicator name and certification number, product trade name, EPA registration number, active ingredient, target pest, site treated, physical address, date and begin/end times, area treated, rate, total amount applied, dilution percentage, who requested the application, re-entry interval, and weather at the time of application. (Verified: BusinessApplicationRecord and REQUIRED_APPLICATION_FIELDS in src/business/applicationRecord.ts, sourced there to Tennessee Pest Control Operator Regulations 0080-09-04-.09 and UT Extension form F805.)

Three honest limits on that:

  1. The app tells you what fields are missing. It does not certify compliance. missingApplicationFields() returns an empty list when every named field is present — which means the record is complete, not that it is compliant. Compliance depends on your state, your licence, and the specific product.
  2. Retention is configurable, and you must configure it correctly. The app defaults to seven years and computes an expiry date from the date of service. State requirements differ: Tennessee requires two years from the date of use; Washington requires seven. The default is the longer one so a misconfigured organization over-retains rather than under-retains. You are responsible for knowing your state's retention period and for producing records on demand — Tennessee, for example, requires production within 48 hours of a departmental request.
  3. A record in this app is not a filing. If your state requires you to submit reports, post notices, or maintain records in a specific format, this app does not do that for you.

7. Fertilizer is regulated too

Nitrogen and phosphorus applications are restricted in a number of states and municipalities — blackout dates, phosphorus bans without a soil test, setbacks from water, and annual rate caps are all common. The app's fertilizer guidance does not model state or local nutrient-management ordinances, and it does not name the ones that apply where you work. Check your own state and municipality before you spread nitrogen or phosphorus.

8. No warranty, and no liability, for agronomic outcomes

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAWN DOMINATORS LLC MAKES NO WARRANTY THAT ANY PRODUCT SUGGESTION, RATE, TIMING, DIAGNOSIS, MODEL, CALCULATION, OR LABEL REFERENCE IN THIS APP IS ACCURATE, CURRENT, COMPLETE, LAWFUL IN YOUR JURISDICTION, OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR SITE.

We are not liable for:

  • turf, ornamental, tree, garden, or crop injury;
  • damage to hardscape, structures, vehicles, or equipment;
  • injury or illness to any person, pet, livestock, pollinator, or wildlife;
  • off-target movement, drift, runoff, leaching, or contamination of soil, groundwater, or surface water;
  • a missed or misapplied re-entry interval;
  • product loss, wasted material, or the cost of remediation or re-treatment;
  • a fine, penalty, stop-work order, licence suspension or revocation, or any civil or criminal enforcement action;
  • a claim by your customer or by a neighbour.

You agree to indemnify and hold Lawn Dominators LLC harmless from any claim arising out of an application you made, as set out in section 12 of the Terms of Service.

What this section cannot do. It does not — and legally cannot — eliminate every exposure. A contract term cannot waive a third party's claim: a homeowner, a neighbour, a pet owner, or a state regulator never signed this, is not bound by it, and can sue or cite the applicator regardless. It also cannot disclaim liability for our own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud, and in a number of states a disclaimer touching pesticide application is narrowed or disregarded by statute or on public-policy grounds. This section reduces exposure. It does not remove it.

9. Emergencies

In a poisoning, exposure, or spill emergency, do not consult this app.

  • Call 911 for a medical emergency.
  • Call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 (United States).
  • Call the emergency number on the product label.
  • For a chemical spill, call CHEMTREC at 1-800-424-9300.
  • Report a spill to your state environmental agency as required.

Take the product label or container with you to any medical facility.

10. Acknowledgement

By using the agronomic features of this app you confirm that you have read this disclaimer, that you will read and follow the label of every product you apply, that you hold the licences your work requires, and that the decision to apply any product is yours alone.
