Powder, mix and spray
Prodiamine 65 WDG
$0.67per 1,000 sq ft
$3.33 for a year on a 5,000 sq ft lawn. Cheapest checkout: 5 lb for $64.27 at Solutions Pest & Lawn.
- Spray it: the label calls for at least 0.5 gallon of water per 1,000 sq ft, so you need a pump or backpack sprayer.
- Needs at least 0.5 inch of rain or irrigation within 14 days to start working.
Granular, spreader
LESCO Stonewall 0-0-7
$13.02per 1,000 sq ft
$65.09 for a year on a 5,000 sq ft lawn. Cheapest checkout: 50 lb for $69.99 at Growcycle.
- Goes through a regular broadcast spreader. No sprayer, no mixing.
- Needs at least 0.5 inch of rain or irrigation within 14 days.
The powder is far cheaper per 1,000 sq ft: the 5 lb jug holds about 19 full-rate years for a 5,000 sq ft lawn. The granular costs more but needs only a spreader. If you do not own a sprayer and do not want to learn to calibrate one, the granular is the easier first year.

Stonewall: up to 6.2 lb per 1,000 sq ft
Both labels set a wait of 4 to 12 months before you can seed, depending on the rate, and ask for at least half an inch of rain or irrigation within 14 days. Prodiamine prevents weeds; it will not kill crabgrass that is already up.

Questions people ask
Straight answers
What is the best price for prodiamine right now?
$64.27 for a 5 lb jug of Prodiamine 65 WDG at Solutions Pest & Lawn, checked 10/18/2026. At the label's top yearly rate for bermuda, zoysia, centipede, and tall fescue (0.83 oz per 1,000 sq ft) that jug treats about 96,386 sq ft, so a 5,000 sq ft lawn uses about $3.33 of it a year.
Does Lowe's or Home Depot sell prodiamine?
Our price feed does not currently track a prodiamine listing at Home Depot or Lowe's, so we cannot give you a price there. The closest big-box option we track is LESCO Stonewall (granular prodiamine) at Walmart for $82.99. If you find one in a store, check that the bag lists prodiamine as the active ingredient and use its own label rate.
How much prodiamine do I need per 1,000 sq ft?
For Prodiamine 65 WDG, the label's yearly maximum is 0.36 to 0.83 oz per 1,000 sq ft on bermuda, zoysia, centipede, St. Augustine, and tall fescue, and 0.185 to 0.55 oz on Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass. You can put it down in one pass or split it, as long as the year's total stays under that line. On St. Augustine the label says to start at 0.28 to 0.55 oz per application.
How long does prodiamine last?
The LESCO Stonewall label says the length of residual control is related to the rate applied: more product, longer protection, up to the yearly maximum. It also says the product will not control weeds that are already up.
Is prodiamine safe for centipede and St. Augustine grass?
Both are listed as tolerant on the Prodiamine 65 WDG and LESCO Stonewall labels. St. Augustine has its own starting rate (0.28 to 0.55 oz of 65 WDG per application).
